Bought this one because my other has a 12" stem which stands out of the fryer too far. This one has a shorter stem which is just the right length. Would have given it 5 stars if the clip were better. On the thick walls of the fryer it doesn't hold all that well and moves things in the deep oil hit it. Not a big thing just something else to watch.

I purchased this thermometer for home brew purposes. The 12 inch probe is just about the perfect length for my brew pot, and the clip holds the thermometer in place and keeps the probe away from the sides of the pot. It doesn't seem to provide the most accurate temperature readings, but it's close enough. It showed a hair over 210 degrees F when the water began to boil. You can't close the lid to the pot too easily with this clipped on, but I only really need it during the pasteurization, steeping, and cool down steps I perform, and the lid is off for those anyway. Overall this is a great product for the coin!

I've made two ales with this thermometer so far, and both turned out just fine, so it is certainly accurate enough for my purposes.

This is a very nice and very accurate frying thermometer, however the clip that holds it to the frying vessel is a bit weak, and needs to be slightly re-bent to make it hold better.

They are probably great for reading the temp but it is just too long for my use and am returning them.
