I'll keep it simple. This is a direct replacement for my Aussie grill from Academy. Versus chunking the old grill in the trash, it's well worth replacing this component. Everything you need to replace the ignitor is included. It provides the sheet metal bracket to mount to the burner assembly.

I can't tell you exactly which aussie grill I have. It's model number starts with 7710, and the description indicated that this starter was for a model number that had the same start.I can tell from the picture though, it's a bit different than my original starter. The original starter for my grill has two nuts that hold it in place. One is on the inside of the grill just below the collector. The other is on the bottom side of the grill. The picture here is almost exactly true... the only difference is that the wire is considerably longer.
So... needless to say, this didn't fit my grill without a little rigging. To accomplish the retrofit, I took a piece of galvanized strap... the kind you get in rolls at the hardware store. I don't know what the strap is normally used for, but I've found millions of projects that need a piece of it, so I generally have a couple of rolls on hand.
Anyway... I cut a 3 inch piece of the strap, bolted the electrode to the strap. In the picture, there is a tab on the bottom side of the collector with a hole in it. The package also includes a screw and nut... perfect for the job. I then positioned the collector so that the top would make contact with the top of the burner, and used a sheet metal screw to fasten the strap to the burner's underside near the middle of the burner. As it turns out... with the old electrode removed, the new electrode projects down through the hole.
One problem that I had was that the original collector made electrical contact with the body of the grill. I wasn't certain there would be enough contact between the various parts to actually complete the electrical circuit, so I ran an additional wire from the strap/collector bolt to the ignition switch's body contact. At some point, I'm sure I'll find the wire has been over heated... but it's just the ground... so no biggy.
I tried universal replacement parts. None of them that I tried actually fit. After attempting similar rigging, they all broke. I finally got frustrated and looked for actual Aussie parts. I would have been $30 ahead if I'd started there first.
