Note that came with mine said that it was calibrated in the factory, and that you only needed to recalibrate if you lived in high altitudes. I slapped it right into my BGE, and it looks right to me ... perfect chicken.

Great replacement for our original 12+ year old Big Green Egg gauge. Can't complain if it works as well as the first one. Looks to be the same gauge. Very pleased with the purchase.

This is a good thermometer, but read the directions and calibrate it before you install it. I bought a Big Green Egg that had been used one time as a "demonstrator." I could never seem to really get the temperature "up" on it, so I figured it must be the thermometer, and I got this one to replace it. In the end, I'm thinking (like I did when I got this new thermometer) that the people who set-up my Big Green Egg simply installed it without calibrating it. READ THE DIRECTIONS. They're small, and they're on the little piece of paper that's inside the plastic case and covers the thermometer. It looks like it could be something, like the plastic case, to throw away as soon as you open it, so check-it-out. After reading the directions, calibrating and installing this new thermometer on my Big Green Egg, I went to the trash can and got my original thermometer. I'm keeping it as a back-up, thinking it was good all along, but had just never been calibrated. Like I said, until I happened to notice the directions that came with this new thermometer, I never would have thought you had calibrate it before installing it.

We haven't used it yet, but it looks the same and fits perfectly. If it works as well as it looks, I will give it 5 stars. The shipping process was fine too.
