The origial set up was a grate with ceramic bricks. This is much nicer than that set up, it distributes the heat more efficiently. Plus, delivery was quick and FREE.

I have only used it about 3 or 4 times as of this review, but was easy to install and seems to be doing the trick so far. The price was right too, as some replacement heat plates are very expensive.

This product does not reduce flare-ups...in fact it makes them worse. The drippings collect on a surface closer to the food and burn,especially with high heat.The briqettes are situated below the burner and the flare is less problematic, IF you change them often and keep them clean...what a dirty pain.Make sure you keep the heat down and slow cook. It's no reflection on the product itself only the description of its attributes. Fast shipping, easy set-up,protection of burner,option of replacing briquettes and fair price all good.
