This tenderizer was a good idea--worked fairly well--but the welds on the bar that slides over the spikes snapped after only 8-10 uses. Glad I embeded it into my chopping block and not my hand. This thing is junk. Poor, poor craftsmanship.

I've owned this product for about six years, and find it indispensable for brining and marinading. It's sturdy, easy to use, and cuts the time for penetrating a turkey by 90%. It's a much better method than a knife or fork because the holes are tiny and the needles won't rupture the meat. We have a full review at bbq4dummies.com

Update: After reading a few negative reviews, I'm wondering if this item hasn't been outsourced and is not the same quality as mine--I've had it for 6-8 years and it's totally first rate and a pleasure to use. No one could accuse it of being less than very well built. I guess the test is to try it and see. Amazon gives you a 30 day return policy.
