When I first used the smoker, the needle on the "temperature" guage would only reach the "I in "Ideal". I drilled some holes in the bottom of the charcoal pan and the needle would reach "Hot", which is great. However, the drilled holes would fill with ash and it wasn't possible to maintain a high temperature. With the grate, it's a lot easier to maintain a high temp as the charcoal stays off the bottom of the pan; I occasionally tap the bottom of the pan and the ash falls through the holes. Definitely worth the cost.

Order was just what I needed to maintain my Weber Kettle Grill. Thought of just replacing it with a new grill seemed wasteful when all that I needed was a charcoal grate. The grate arrived days after I posted the order and within hours I had fired it up. Grate is heavy duty and I expect it will provide years of use.

My old charcoal holder started to become concaved due to years of fires being built on it. This one is an exact replacement and will probably outlive me. Recommend this product to others.

I bought this for my Brinkman Smoke 'N Grill Charcoal Smoker, which definitely needs a grate in the charcoal basin to promote air flow. A standard 15 inch grate would rest on top of the bowl leaving charcoal and wood to potentially spill. I thought this 10 inch grate would sit about halfway in the bowl, but it actually falls all the way to the bottom. It does help a little, but not as much as I hoped.
