Simple directions, works as indicated. Put the throw away cylinder in the freezer for awhile. With propane at $3.99 per gallon, it takes about $1 worth of propane to refill a one pound cylinder.

GREAT product!!!!! Make sure you chill your tank before refill and you will get a full load. Good quality product, amply made!

I had read other places that people couldn't get the tanks to fill enough using this adapter. I decided to check it by weighing the tank both before and after refilling. I put the tank in the freezer, but forgot about it for a couple of hours. After filling, I found the tank weighed just over 19 onces more. Since the tank is designed to hold 16.4, it is somewhat overfilled. I used a full bulk 20lb tank at about 70 degrees, and used two different digital scales each time. I am sure this can be adjusted by making sure the tank is in the freezer for a shorter time, but I do recommend weighing your cylinders. If left in the sun, or in a warm place, this extra fuel could cause the gas to reach a higher pressure than the tank is designed for. Any concern about this adapter not working well enough to be worthwhile is gone.

Honest reviews on Brass MACCOUPLER EZ Fill Propane Coupler

Pros: The MacCoupler EZ Fill Propane coupler is well constructed / machined. It works as advertised assuming you follow the directions. You MUST put the empty small propane tank in the freezer for 15 20 minutes first. If you just connect two warm tanks nothing much happens.

Cons: At almost $20, it's a bit expensive for what it is and can only be used where one has access to a freezer. I noticed one of the cans I refilled bulging in the center after several months. Not sure whether this is a defect in that can or tied to the refill. Something to keep an eye on.

Many years ago I bought a 10 lb tank and a hose which I use for our stove & portable grill when car camping. The cost, which is a few fold more than the coupler, is only warranted if you camp regularly, but this setup all but eliminates the hassle of small disposable cans. We only use them for the lantern and it doesn't use much gas. I've been very happy with this setup.
