I have a Weber Genesis 1000 BBQ. The flavorizer bars porcelain-coated metal were falling to pieces (literally !) so I decided to replace them. Found OEM porcelain-coated bars elsewhere on the web, but then I saw these stainless steel bars on Amazon, & decided they'd be more durable. The edges are a little sharp, but they're easy enough to handle. Others have noted that the plastic protective covering is hard to remove; not sure why they found it difficult -it took me about 5 minutes to do it for all 13 of the bars (maybe the manufacturer has changed things, to make removal easier?). Anyway, I installed them last night. They fit my BBQ perfectly. They radiate the BBQ heat very well, and they look as though they'll last a long time. Very satisfied. EDIT: After using the BBQ several times, I can attest that these are very effective. They radiate the heat well, and it's easier for me to keep a stable temperature for cooking, especially at lower temperatures (e.g., 250F).

These bars are much heavier and obviously of far batter quality than either the standard or the stainless versions by Weber. Put em in, they fit perfectly and work better than either of the two Weber sets I've had before. They are much thicker and much better grade of stainless than the Weber ones and are at lest 30% less expensive than the thin Weber replacement bars.Best Deals for Stainless Flavorizer Bars, Model 7538, Set of 13 (16 Ga.)
The bars work as advertised and them are a good, heavy-duty material. I had no problem removing the pastic covering, but as others have noted, they are *very* sharp. Use caution.Unfortunately, my experience with the seller was less than ideal. My order was missing an item when it arrived one of the long, bottom bars. I contacted the seller and they were very prompt and courteous, sent the replacement right away and even agreed to ship it to my Canadian residence even though the original order was shipped to the US. Unfortunately, when the replacement arrived, it was the incorrect item. The length is fine, but it's much taller than the others, meaning the upper bars don't sit level any more. It's usable, but not ideal. Ultimately, I can't recommend this seller; they seem to have some issues with their order-picking system.

August 25, 2013 Update: I have now used these for almost 3 years and they are still in great shape. I expect them to last as long as the Weber made ones. This is turning out to be an excellent value!I bought my Weber in 1995. I think this is the 3rd time to replace the flavorizer bars. This is the first time to go with after market parts and not Weber.
The good: These after market Weber Flavorizer Bars are more heavy duty than those provided by Weber, and about 2/3 the price.
But... They have really sharp edges. You must be careful. The Weber bars are not sharp like this. Also, had to peel protective plastic off of each bar, there were 3 long strips on each, and most took a while to remove (remember the sharp edges). Finally, the bars are narrower than the Weber product. This means there is a larger gap between the installed bars. Not sure if this is a concern or not.
Overall good value for the money.

Heavier gauge of these aftermarket bars does help retain more heat and allows the bbq to reach a higher heat than previous. Beneficial with our Weber BBQ which although we have loved its build quality and design, its lower BTU rating (15-20% lower than comparably sized/designed BBQ by other manufacturerssomething I did not pick up on at time of purchase and only realized upon first uses in cooler weather where we found the BBQ having a challenge reaching sear temperature.Although I agree that these bars have sharp edges, basic common sense about handling any thin metal materials with gloves would have avoided the safety issues that have incorrectly marred some of the reviews of this fine product. These are not items that remain exposed or handled upon initial installation so I can fully understand why the manufacturer would not go to the time, effort and additional cost to grind/rile the edges. Would most likely double the cost of the product. Please people take some responsibility with respect to personal safety and don't always pass the blame.
