Pedrini Black & Satin 5-Piece Barbeque Set Review
Contrary to the one old review, from someone making assumptions about the tools before using them, these are easily the best BBQ tools I've found anywhere. I became so tired of throwing away rusting or breaking BBQ tools and seeing nothing but Made in China junk no matter the brand. I know I'm not the only one who's learned the hard way that China manufacturers face no enforcement whatsoever, particularly about metal content, and they will stamp anything with whatever grade the seller requests. Accordingly the supposedly stainless steel Chinese-made BBQ tools have all proven to be inferior grade, not true stainless, and rust even with good care. These Pedrini tools are made in Italy, with true stainless ("Inox") and, even though the handles are not thick (to keep the weight down despite the BBQ length, not to be cheap as the prior review incorrectly suggested) they hold up beautifully with not a speck of rust even when forgotten outside by the BBQ for a few days. The prior review complaint about size makes no sense considering the usual hazard with such tools is getting one's hands too close to the heat. The length of these is perfectly appropriate and because of the aforementioned slender design, the weight and balance is much better than the so-called heavy duty BBQ tools on the market. The latch at the end of the tongs to keep them closed works just fine and continues to function perfectly after two-plus years of regular use. Also, the curved back of the spatula, along with it's generous width and sturdy rigidity, works very well in tight spaces; i.e., on a kettle BBQ. Even the fork is superior in the sense that things don't slip off the points which are also slender enough not to mangle the food. The 5-piece set is not currently available, but the key pieces can be bought separately, but it's a shame if these are being phased out in a market flooded with poorly made junk only pretending to be heavy duty. You'll need a trailer sized BBQ grill for this BBQ set! The quality stainless steel is very cheap and the utensils are bulky. I'm not sure that they are truly made of stainless steel, so most likely these utensils will rust. The tongs have a lever that doesn't work well. They don't come with a box to store it in. My package looked like it was already returned by someone else and was retaped up and shipped to me. I'd look around for a set that comes with a storage case and one that's made of higher quality materials. Good luck!
