I moved to an apartment recently and gas grills are not allowed, so I figured I'd buy a good electric grill. I bought this after looking into a number of electric grills. It was pricey but I thought it would perform well.

When the grill arrived, the finish was scuffed in a number of places and holes in the body didn't match the back plate. The assembly instructions were good and the grill went together easily (once I drilled holes to match the plate holes). It fired up easily and I was excited to think that I'd be able to grill on my small porch. Here's where the real disappointment set in.

The Dimplex claims to heat to a high temperature. As it has turned out, I have to leave the heat setting on high to get anything cooked. Even at that heat, boneless chicken breasts weren't done after a half hour, remaining raw in the middle. I haven't tried steak yet, but I sure won't be trying to cook something other than a very thin one. I can't imagine cooking anything at a setting less than high I'd be waiting all night for my dinner.

Maybe I'm expecting too much from an electric grill but at nearly $600 I expect much more than what this grill delivers.

OK, time to edit this post. I had a long talk with the Dimplex customer service folks regarding the issues described above. Based on their comments, I have figured out that the best way to run this grill is using the program keypad to select the type and size of whatever is being grilled. I had much better success that way than running it in manual mode. It takes a heck of a long time to get something cooked when compared to a gas grill, but it does an okay job. Still pricey, though.

I was thrown off by the previous negative review but decided to order this great looking grill anyway. It arrived very quickly and packed very well.

Opened box and started getting ready to assemble...we were done in 15 minutes. Already had the steaks marinated and were anxious to see how well it worked...

FANTASTIC!!!...We have tried three other top selling electric grills and the Dimplex wins hands down.

We will highly recommend to all...I do think we will order the light kit so we can check steaks in a better light.

We were skeptical about how well an electric grill would work, but since we're in a condo we had no other choice. We've had this grill for a couple of months now and absolutely love it! I think it does a better job grilling than any of our previous gas grills. I love the program settings and each piece of meat comes off the grill tender and perfectly cooked. I would definitely recommend this grill.

We love are grill we use it rain or shine, food it cooks is wounderful, wouldn't go back to charcoal grills or gas again
