The original Magma gas grill had a metal screen and ceramic 'briquets'. These were always a problem, as the screen would rust away after a few seasons, and the briquets would move about when we went sailing and required the cook to handle a greasy grill, move the sooty briquets back in place, and so forth.

The radiant plate ends all that, and seems to have improved the overall function of the grill.

Probably the best purchase you can make to keep your old Magma gas grill cooking!

I own the original grill which came with a screen and brikets. It was terribly uneven heat. I switched out the brikets for this plate. It is a huge improvement. No more burnt chicken on one side and raw on the other side of the grill.
