I like this tongs because it locks. I don't have to fight with the metal ring that is supposed to close it. My old one is the kind that has a ring around it which always gets stuck in the wrong place.

I am a culinary student and my tongs from my school kit had gone missing, so I replaced them with these. I am actually very happy that I did. These tongs do not wobble as the hinging is very precise, and they grip solidly. The locking mechanism is perfect for use in a busy kitchen as you can tilt the spoon end in the air to lock and tilt it down to unlock while squeezing the handles.

I was planning on getting the 9 or 10 inch tongs instead, but I'm glad I went with the 12 inch because they stay cool a whole lot longer when working directly over a commercial burner.
